This Grade II Listed Rectory has been converted into a family home for modern day living. The former Rectory had seen single skin masonry extensions to the front and rear and featured large stores offering future potential for conversion.

We were able to assist the client in taking a sensitive light touch approach to their brief, retaining existing historical features, opening up historical doorways and sensitively inserting a new kitchen and master ensuite without impacting the existing fabric.

Having been left vacant for some time and with previous extension works having little regard to damp and moisture, part of the works was to reenable the building to breathe and dry out during the main site phase and beyond. This longer term approach should, over time, allow the building to dry out and combat weather and damp in the future.

Inserting the kitchen to the rear of the property allowed a direct connection with the south facing garden, whilst re-opening a historic doorway created a connection to the new western terrace. Existing bathrooms were replaced for modern day living with showers, and a roll top bath, with a discreet master bed ensuite inserted beneath the stair access to the loft.

The refurbishment was completed prior to the first lockdown allowing the family more space to manage the challenges of home working and schooling whilst being able to enjoy the large garden through the seasons.
