Project:  Extensive refurbishment and extension to a post war home in Sneyd Park, Bristol
Client:    Private

Although in great condition and with many of the original features including the Formica kitchen and teak flooring remaining, our brief was to replace, update and extend this family home in the popular area of Bristol just on the edge of the Durdham Downs. Work remains to be completed on the external landscaping which is scheduled for later this year once the client (herself a garden designer) takes time to consider how best to lay out the space.

A simple but carefully executed extension has been added to the rear of the property to take advantage of the views across the mature garden. The new space is flooded with light from the large sliding doors and rooflights, meaning regardless of the weather, the new living, dining and kitchen areas remain bright and airy throughout the day. A large island kitchen has commanding views across the room and out to the garden again ensuring that connectivity with the green spaces. Elsewhere a new shower room and WC has been added on the ground floor, the family bathroom and ensuite refitted and new electrical and heating systems installed throughout.

Externally the extension has been treated with a Lime wash which will weather and soften over time to create a harmonised exterior which blends in with the openings and retains a contrast to the original property.

We look forward to sharing more photos of the project once the work to the landscaping has been completed.
